Ring-necks are available in shades ranging from bright yellows, greens, and blues to albinos. Like a few other birds species, they are known as dimorphic, meaning that a bird’s sex can be determined b its colors and markings. While still beautiful, females lack the facial and collar bands, although some display a barely slight darkening of color around their necks.

Diet and Nutrition of the Parrot

Wild Indian Ring-necks usually feast on a diet of fruits, vegetables, nuts, berries, and seed. While most Veterinarians agree that caged birds should eat a nutritionally balanced pellet diet, a Ring-neck will appreciate various fruits and veggies in their diet. As with all birds, food and water troughs should be emptied, cleaned, and refilled daily to reduce bacteria growth and infection risk.
