Colors of the Rose-neck Parrots

Ring-necks are available in shades ranging from bright yellows, greens, and blues to albinos. Like a few other birds species, they are known as dimorphic, meaning that a bird’s sex can be determined b its colors and markings. Males were having sport deep red beaks, black facial markings, and three color bands around their necks. While still beautiful, females lack the facial and collar bands, although some display a barely slight darkening of color around their necks.

Diet and Nutrition of the Parrot

Wild Indian Ring-necks usually feast on a diet of fruits, vegetables, nuts, berries, and seed. While most Veterinarians agree that caged birds should eat a nutritionally balanced pellet diet, a Ring-neck will appreciate various fruits and veggies in their diet. As with all birds, food and water troughs should be emptied, cleaned, and refilled daily to reduce bacteria growth and infection risk.

Exercise of Indian Ring-Neck Parrots

The parrots are very active birds, and the Ring-neck is no exception. As with most other pet birds, it is good to have a secured area for the bird to play and stretch its wings. The birds also have powerful jaw muscles to maintain, so it is wise to provide an array of perches, chewable toys, and cage accessories to be less likely to gnaw on something valuable or dangerous.
